Community destination marketing and management organization creates sustainability, outdoor recreation and arts and culture seats on nonprofit board
Longmont, CO, January 26, 2024 —Longmont’s City Council unanimously ratified three new board seat appointments to the Visit Longmont board of directors, at their January 23 meeting.
Visit Longmont, the community’s destination marketing and management nonprofit charged with promoting Longmont to potential travelers, approved amendments to their bylaws establishing an arts and culture, sustainable development, and outdoor recreation seats.
“These updated seats represent important sectors supporting responsible tourism growth, while maintaining our strong partnership with the City of Longmont,” said Sarah Leonard Visit Longmont’s CEO.
The new board seats and directors are:
Visit Longmont Sustainability Sector Board Seat: Byron Kominek, founder of Jack's Solar Garden, providing clean energy into our community while acting as the premier site in the country for agrivoltaics - coupling solar energy with agriculture. Byron is also the Executive Director of the Colorado Agrivoltaic Learning Center, which provides educational tours, events, and workshops for community members and enthusiasts from around the country.
Visit Longmont Arts & Culture Board Seat: Erik Mason is the recently appointed Director at the Longmont Museum, after spending more than 20 years working in the Longmont Museum’s historic photograph, archive, and object collections. He is the author of Longmont: The First 150 Years, a richly illustrated book exploring the history of Longmont.
Visit Longmont Outdoor Recreation Board Seat: Jeff Friesner, Director of Recreation and Culture, with the City of Longmont. Jeff has been in the recreation industry for over 35 years with experience in developing and conducting athletic tournaments and special events of all sizes. Jeff has also helped increase the number of rounds of golf played in Longmont to over 118,000 rounds annually.
