McIntosh Lake Nature Area
Located in northwest Longmont, McIntosh Lake is a public park that offers 3.5 miles of easy walking trails and beautiful views of the Rocky Mountains, most notably Longs Peak and Mt. Meeker. It's also a great area to see prairie dogs, bald eagles, pelicans and other wildlife.
McIntosh Lake is a reservoir and, as such, is part of the statewide ditch and reservoir system. It is known for great fishing and is a favorite among paddleboarders and kayakers. Dawson Park and Flanders Park are neighborhood parks along the lake, offering playgrounds, restrooms, tennis courts, volleyball, etc.

No fees
SUP and Kayak rentals can be found through the Angles Sports Exchange store in Downtown Longmont.
Park Rules
- Lake Hours: 1 hour before sunrise until 1 hour after sunset.
- Carry-on, non-motorized boats only. This includes canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, belly boats, sailboards, sailboats and small boats that can be carried to the lake.
- Access to the lake is only at the designated boat ramps.
- Before putting in, please note the number of boats already on the lake and, for your safety and that of those around you, do not put in if the lake is already overcrowded.
- No inner tubes; only multiple-chambered inflatable craft such as belly boats.
- Swimming is prohibited.
- Dogs must be on a leash at all times.
- No glass containers.
Location: 1929 Harvard St., with many access points around the lake along Lakeshore Drive.
