You’re part of something big

In 2026, Colorado will observe two significant anniversaries. History Colorado invites you to join them in this opportunity to remember our shared past and imagine our future together.

Sesquicentennial. Semiquincentennial. Sesquisemiquincentennial.

In 2026, Colorado will celebrate 150 years of statehood, and the United States will mark 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Communities across the state are taking part in this milestone through local events, programs, and storytelling that reflect their own history, culture, and people.

Longmont’s participation centers on sharing local perspectives, highlighting community spaces, and creating opportunities for residents and visitors to learn, connect, and celebrate together.

This statewide effort is guided by the America 250 – Colorado 150 Commission and is built around the theme “The View From Here,” which encourages communities to tell their stories from their own point of view.
