The Longmont Museum is welcoming visitors back on October 17th after a year of renovations. The nearly $10 million project has expanded the museum’s public gallery space by 70%, creating more room for exhibitions, art, history and interactive experiences. The reopening will be celebrated with a free, all-day event featuring gallery tours, art activities, historical talks, crafts, films and other activities for the community. Visitors will also be among the first to see the museum’s new exhibitions, including Frida Kahlo: An Intimate Portrait and Women Artists: Four Centuries of Creativity.

Families have even more reason to stop by with the addition of DreamLab, a new permanent children’s gallery in Lila’s Children’s Gallery. Designed as a space for hands-on exploration, DreamLab invites kids to play, create and use their imaginations in spaces that include a dragon castle and a calming crystal cave. It’s a welcome addition for Longmont families and gives younger visitors their own place to explore while the museum’s other galleries offer plenty for adults and older kids to discover.
