Longmont has two locations that offer country skiing and snowshoeing. Head to Heil Valley Ranch or Rabbit Mountain Open Space to try one or both.
If you prefer more leisurely snow activities, building snowmen, sledding, or snowball fights can also be great ways to spend time outdoors in the winter at locations like Dry Creek Community Park, Garden Acres Park or Sunset Middle School.
Head out to St. Vrain State Park to do some ice fishing. This Colorado state park has the premier ice fishing ponds.
The ice continues at the Longmont Ice Pavilion. Open for public skating every day of the week at select times, and the pavilion is a beautiful place to lace up your skates and enjoy the winter wonderland.
If you are looking for a more extreme winter adventure, check out Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides, based in Gunbarrel. Staying in Longmont, you can adventure up into the high country on winter day trips!
Yearning to hit the slopes? Most of Colorado's more than two dozen ski areas are within a few hours' drive of Longmont, including Eldora, which is less than an hour away. Visit www.coloradoski.com for more information or to help plan your outing.
