Longmont Farmers Market 2019 Season

The Longmont Farmers Market, which produces a growers-only market featuring locally grown produce, homemade food products and local artisans, opened for the 2019 season on April 6, 2019!

The award-winning market opens each year the first weekend in April and will remain open this year until November 23, the longest market season in Colorado. This year’s market will continue to host popular, weekly events including live music, free kids’ activities, free parking, and complimentary bike valet provided by Bicycle Longmont.

The vendors include local farmers, food trucks, coffee baristas, wineries, bakeries, crafters, artisans and so much more! There will be lots of great opportunities to eat your way through the market, and find great gift items to bring home with you.

On opening day, Longmont Farmers Market will host “Welcome Back Bingo” via Instagram. Participants will complete five interactive tasks at the market, post a picture, and tag either @boulderfarmersmarket or @longmontfarmersmarket to be entered into an opening day giveaway of $100 market bucks. Each task will encourage people to get social in real time. Who wouldn’t want to high-five a farmer?

Food access and zero waste are identified as two, big focus areas for Boulder County Farmers Markets (BCFM) this season. BCFM received $405,000 in grant funds for their food access programs running at all five markets enabling more access to fresh, local food to low-income, low-access individuals and families funded through the City of Boulder Health Equity Fund, City of Longmont and Livewell Colorado. Last year, $194,926 food access dollars (SNAP, Double Up, and WIC) were redeemed across all markets. “Engagement in our food access programs has been doubling year over year, says the executive director, Brian Coppom, “The increase in funding this year will allow farmers to sell almost 10% of their produce to these important customers.”

The Longmont Farmers Market is one of four regional markets managed by BCFM. The BCFM was an idea a group of local farmers came up with in 1986. What started with a few tables of produce loaded off the backs of pick-up trucks, has evolved into four, robust, destination markets in Longmont, Boulder, Lafayette and Denver’s Union Station. This year the markets celebrate their 33rd season.

The Longmont Farmers Market is held at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Rd. There is plenty of free parking, and admission is also free. Hours are 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. For more information about the Longmont Farmers Market, visit bcfm.org.
