Longmont Airport Hosts 2018 Expo

Longmont’s Vance Brand Airport, 229 Airport Rd., will host their 2018 Airport Expo on Saturday, June 23 from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. This year’s event will feature NASA astronaut Vance Brand and a Salute to Veterans by the American Legion – Post 32 Honor Guard. The Expo is open to the public and a great event for all ages.

Longmont native, veteran, astronaut, and the airport’s name-sake, Vance Brand, will speak on his career in aviation and how it led him into the space program beginning at 8:45 a.m. At 9:30 a.m., American Legion – Post 32 Honor Guard will ask Vietnam-era veterans to line up behind their service flag to be presented with a lapel pin and a Presidential Proclamation that is authorized by the U.S. Government and Department of Defense. Additionally, any surviving spouses of veterans who served from November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975 will also receive a lapel pin and Certificate of Honor. Mr. Brand will also participate in this ceremony.

The 2018 Longmont Airport Expo will feature airplane displays, aerobatic demonstrations, live music and more.

In addition to static aircraft displays and aerobatic performances, the Expo will have many vendors including local food, live music, a beer garden and much more. The Expo will highlight the importance of aviation, as well as, serve as a day to honor our military, both past and present.
