The Wild Animal Sanctuary

overview

View Map

About an hour or 35 miles east of Longmont is Keenesburg, CO and home to TheĀ Wild Animal Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is not a zoo and offers a completelyĀ different visitor experience. Their rescued animals live in large open habitats that encompass 789 acres. They have an elevated walkway that is more than 1.5 miles long and spans acrossĀ numerousĀ natural habitats, with plenty of opportunities forĀ guests to get a closer view of the animals. The Sanctuary's two primary missions involve rescuing and caring for animals - and educating people about the captive wildlife crisis. Ā To that end, they allow peopleĀ who wantĀ to learn more aboutĀ the work they do to visit the unique facility. The vast majority of visitors to the Wild Animal Sanctuary come to experience an incredibly serene setting where prides of African Lions roam freely and tigers, wolves, bears and other large carnivores also live and coexist peacefully. Recommended time spent at the sanctuary is 3-5 hours.
