Learn about Pollinators! @ Senior Services Center

June is Colorado Pollinator Month! Gardens can be designed to enhance the aesthetics of a site, but also to provide habitat that supports an array of wildlife including pollinators. Join Deryn Davidson of Boulder County Extension to learn about the various pollinator species you might see in your garden as you are out tending your flowers and veggies. We will also cover some design elements you can incorporate in your yard to attract them.

Volunteer Beaver Tree Painting - Help Protect Establishing Native Trees @ Golden Ponds Nature Area

This will be a fun, family-friendly event! Ages 8+. Beavers provide important ecosystem services in our floodplains. They can be a big help creating and restoring wetlands. Sometimes though, we want to plant native trees to enhance and restore our urban riparian areas but protect them from beavers so they can grow to provide a shaded creek for fish or stabilize a bank with their roots. Come help us apply special beaver protection paint to cottonwood trees in two Nature Areas. Remember to wear old clothes because the paint does not wash out. Space is limited. Please register through City of Longmont’s JoinUs volunteer portal.
