Friday Afternoon Concert: Boulder Piano Quartet @ Longmont Museum

The 28th season of Friday Afternoon Concerts and Art Shows concludes on Friday, April 19, 2019 with a performance by the Boulder Piano Quartet–BPQ. Members include local notables Charles Wetherbee, violin; Matthew Dane, viola; Thomas Heinrich, cello and David Korevaar, piano.
There will be two major works on the concert: Quartet for Piano and Strings (1969) by Gordon Jacob and George Enescu’s Quartet #2 in D Minor, Op. 30.

The BPQ was formed in 2003 as a collaboration between members of the Colorado Symphony and the faculty of the University of Colorado College of Music.
Its members have performed with highly esteemed artists and composers in venues and festivals across North America, Europe, and Asia. The BPQ has performed at many of Colorado’s notable concert series; for many years they were Ensemble-in-residence at the Boulder Public Library, holding outreach programs, open rehearsals, and several concerts annually. The BPQ recorded piano quintets of Lowell Liebermann with Jon Manasse, clarinet and Margaret Soper Gutierrez, violin for Koch International Classics and currently performs a concert series at The Academy in Boulder.

The artist demonstration of drawing and painting features local Longmont artist Dru Marie Robért. (http://drumarierobert.com/)

The series is co-presented with the Longmont Museum. Performances are held at the Longmont Museum’s Stewart Auditorium, 400 Quail Road, Longmont, Colorado.

Artist demonstrations begin at 1:30 PM. Doors open at 2 PM and concerts begin at 2:30 PM.
