The Vagina Monologues @ Firehouse Art Center

by Eve Ensler
An Obie Award-winning whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone, THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a vagina workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, and a feminist happy to have found a man who “liked to look at it.”
Connecting with Our Community: From rape to abuse to sexual exploration, the topics covered in The Vagina Monologues have the power to elicit deep and sometimes confusing emotions. Join us for a special Talk Back facilitated by licensed therapists following each performance of The Vagina Monologues. Therapists will also be available for one-on-one conversations following each performance. Want to find out more about advocacy and support for our local community; information on the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault and other organizations will be available. We will also be donating all proceeds from our local artist wares to the CCASA – we are proud to be supporting them once again.
“The Vagina Monologues manifest the power of women telling their truths, one story at a time, and the people who believe them.” – Dia Kline, Cast Member
“The purpose of this production is to give a voice to the hundreds of women in our community who have been triggered, frustrated, infuriated, and affected by the recent current events. We want to represent all women in our community. We want to talk about sexual assault from our point of view. We want to praise the power of women. Our ability to thrive, give birth, laugh, and love. We want to celebrate our legacy. We want to take back what is rightfully ours: Our Experience. Our Bodies. Our Rights. Our Voice.” – Robin Zavala, Director
