Creative Paint & Sip @ CoSolve
Dec 15 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Creative Paint & Sip @ CoSolve

This is like Paint & Sip with a twist! Creativity is very important to us at Alt Art Ed, so we will guide your artwork in a way that leaves you pleased with the outcome, but everyone’s painting will look a little different when we’re finished. We are all different people with different backgrounds, appearances, beliefs, traditions, and lifestyles, so why should our art look the same, right? Join us as we all learn together to create these Winter Dove paintings that you can take home and hang on your wall or give as a gift!

This is a BYOB event, but it’s certainly not necessary if you want to stay alcohol-free. You don’t need any art experience to join this creative process.

This event is guided by local artist and Alt Art Ed Owner, Tyrell Coover.

Where: CoSolve, 350 Terry St., Suite 200
When: Saturday, December 15, 7:00-9:00pm
How much: $25
Who: Everyone! (21+ to drink, of course)

Please come 15 minutes early if you need to open, mix, or pour your beverages. Refrigeration is available!

Firehouse Art Center Artist Member of the Year: Stephanie Hilvitz presents “Crossings: Migration/Immigration/Transcendence”

From the Artist:
“This body of work represents a decade of looking at migration/immigration and transcendence through the lens of the Monarch butterfly migration.

Thru the image of the monarch butterfly; fragments of text and story I am exploring the conversation between life and death, spirit and soul, survival of species and the vessel of the seed to disperse these ideas. The humble milkweed pod representing to me, the human struggle and contrast between free-flowing vs restricted movement.

The beautiful ancient Mexican belief that the monarchs return each year after a 3000 mile migration as the souls of loved ones who have died expresses how we as people use myth and imagination to transcend loss and accept what cannot be truly known. My spirit houses/spirit dolls embody these concepts as my way to honor and remember family. “

Artist in Residence Roberta Restaino @ Firehouse Art Center. Jan 30-March 2

Working in traditional printmaking and creative construction, Restaino will use her time in the Residency to work on her own invention: an imaginative take on historical catalogues of natural history she has named the Encyclopedia of the Anthropocene. “Anthropocene”—from anthropo, for “man,” and cene, for “new”—because human activities have caused mass extinctions of plant and animal species. The residency will culminate in an immersive exhibition of these creatures rendered into a three-dimensional environment, accompanied by shadow-box “specimens” and an interactive drawing. Visit Roberta in the South Gallery from November through January to add your own creativity to the construction. Supplies provided through the sponsorship of ACE Hardware Longmont.
