Arts Longmont continues its 28th season of Friday Afternoon Concerts and Art Shows on Friday, January 18, 2019 with the Boulder-based vocal ensemble, Cantabile. The ensemble has been performing for 30 years. This concert celebrates the music that made Cantabile the choir they are today, and includes some new pieces that send them optimistically into the years ahead. These include favorites by contemporary choral composers Morten Lauridsen, Joan Szymko, and Rosephanye Powell, as well as beauties from the choral canon by Johannes Brahms, Maurice Duruflé and Gerald Finzi.
The accompanying art show features Longmont Figure Arts. LFA has been part of the art community since the late 1970s, meeting weekly to draw, paint and sculpt the human figure. They will have a live model posing for this demonstration, offering audience members the opportunity to watch the process and ask questions.
Tickets are available by phone at 303-651-8374, on the Longmont Museum’s website (www.longmontcolorado.gov/museum) or at the door.
Performances are held at the Longmont Museum’s Stewart Auditorium, 400 Quail Road, Longmont, Colorado 80501
